Chenguang's 3D artwork

rendering I did with Blender

Abstarct hill

I have been a fan of 3D art since my undergraduate, which actually was not long after my exposure to a computer. The fact that you can create a realistic world using computer X imagination fascinated me. My journey started with Autodesk 3Ds MAX, then to MAYA, SketchUp, and, very briefly, ZBrush. At that time, 3Ds MAX was still in version 5 (I think?), SketchUp still belonged to Google, and ZBrush was new. How time flies!

Anyway, I eventually dived into academia and basically gave up my dream of art, though I create something from time to time. I figure it is not a bad idea to note down my creations here, as a lifelog. Also, maybe I could find academic friends who happen to share my interest.

Now, I am mostly a Blender person, and the image you are seeing here was created using Blender, which is a brilliant piece of software by the way.

Blender can render great illustrations for academic publications as well, so it is relevant even if you are not an art person. More on that later.
